Nutrient-rich and fairly traded: Worlée at BioFach 2016

Smoothies with superfood and fair trade products are particularly in demand by knowledgeable consumers. Worlée delivers precisely the right raw materials in this category for the food industry.

In shops of all sorts, from health food stores to supermarkets, consumers seeking particularly nutritious products just can’t miss superfoods. New varieties appear nearly every week, ideally complete with organic certification. As it happens, many of their raw material ingredients, such as acai- or goji berries, for example, are not new at all, but rather have long been an integral part of other national cuisines. At Worlée in Hamburg, these valuable fruits, spices and also vegetable varieties have been a prime focus for many years. The family company will present a large selection of its dried organic products at BioFach in Nuremberg from 10 to 13 February (hall 9, stand 321).

It all depends on the right mix

Healthy eating habits require a balanced diet. Smoothies can make a very useful contribution to such a well-adjusted plan, not least because they can be made quickly from powder at home. Worlée’s research and development department has already experimented widely, combining particularly nutritious ingredients such as wheatgrass, cranberry, acai, moringa, spinach or kale into smoothies with a sharp, fruity taste. The organic raw materials also work very well in other drinks and snacks.

Increasing demand for fair trade products

According to the German vegetarian association, nearly a million people in Germany are leading a vegan lifestyle. These are a million people who not only eat strictly non-animal products, but also make very conscious consumption decisions. It is therefore not surprising that, along with highly nutritious organic fare, fair trade products are also more and more in demand. Worlée supports diverse Fairtrade projects around the world and works intensively to assist farmers in countries of origin. The bulk of the premium money that is earned from the sale of Fairtrade raw materials flows into local social and educational services. Though the range of items in this product category is still limited, raw materials such as ginger or turmeric that are very much in demand can already be delivered under the Fairtrade seal.

With more than 15 years’ experience in the field of dried organic raw materials, Worlée is able to offer more than 450 organic products, making the company one of the largest providers of these materials in Germany.
