Quality and variety from the world's best growing regions

It’s that time of the year again: On 21st May 2021 we celebrate International Tea Day! For the third time in a row, the German Tea & Herbal Tea Association is calling for a celebration of tea from the country of origin to the cup. On this day, we also want to celebrate the popular hot beverage. Because for us it is clear - a high-quality tea is the result of the best possible raw materials, high-quality refinement and inspiring tea blends.

On the trail of trends

As in the world of fashion, new trends are constantly emerging in the tea sector. These can be very fast-moving or, as can be seen with green tea, become real customer favourites. Our tea development team is always on the trail of trends and is constantly working on new creative tea compositions in response consumer desires. Currently, the desire for variety is shaping tea habits, which is also reflected in the increasing variety of products and the trend towards ever more unusual blends. In addition, consumers want a healthy, enjoyable and varied nutrition, as indicated by the so-called liquid evolution. What is meant here is a development towards more conscious moments of enjoyment. Tea plays an important role, since it can be used, for example, as a base or filler for mocktails and as a food-pairing companion for dinner.

Mission: Best quality

Our goal at Worlée is to sell only products that guarantee incomparable tea enjoyment. We also underline this claim through our membership in the German Tea & Herbal Tea Association e.V. By the time the tea ends up in your customers’ cups, the various raw materials have already come a long way.

To ensure incomparable tea enjoyment at all times, we work in partnership with suppliers from the countries of origin.Whether East Frisian Klönschnack, Japanese tea ceremony or high tea in England – for us, the love of tea knows no boundaries. For this reason, we source our raw materials from all over the world to ensure a high degree of innovation as well as extreme creativity. Hibiscus from Nigeria, rooibos from South Africa or rosehip from Chile - through our long-standing partnerships with our suppliers, we guarantee that only high-quality raw materials are further refined in our facilities. We buy goods of the highest quality standards that are available all year round. In addition, our experts regularly travel to the countries of origin to convince themselves of the quality on site and to share their know-how. In this context, we also support numerous organic and fair trade projects.

All efforts in the producing countries promise an excellent raw product, which we further refine to achieve our ambitious goals for quality and enjoyment. For this purpose, we have designed our own quality management system, certified by DIN EN ISO 22000, FSSC 2000 and HACCP, which guarantees the highest quality thanks to state-of-the-art technology combined with manual work. We offer this quality in blends, assortment concepts and single raw materials. We are pleased to provide many raw materials in organic and fairtrade quality, such as green tea from Sri Lanka.

Transparency along the supply chain

In 2009, we joined the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (Sedex) – an organisation of companies committed to improving ethical trade. Sedex aims to encourage organisations to improve the lives of the people they impact. It does this by making fair wages, transparent working conditions as well as compliance with various environmental guidelines. Using the SMETA-4-pillar concept (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audits), the efforts of participating companies are put to the test. Since our membership in 2009, we have successfully completed various audits according to the four pillars of SMETA, thus demonstrating our social responsibility.

Furthermore, we want to contribute to the development and improvement of structures in the countries of origin. Therefore, we joined the Union of Ethical Biotrade (UEBT) in 2018. The non-profit organization works to promote sustainable sourcing strategies as well as biodiversity. Find out what we have achieved so far and how we started to implement a biodiversity action plan together with the UEBT.
